Frequently asked questions

The honest answers. Something missing? Contact us — we reply within 24 hours.

Is this anonymous?

Yes. You can search and unlock results without an account, and we never ask who you are. If you optionally sign in, it's with an email-only magic link — no passwords, no profiles.

Do you store my photo?

Your uploaded photo is used to run the search, then auto-deleted from image hosting within 15 minutes. A small low-resolution thumbnail stays attached to your result page so you can recognize the search later — that's all. We never add your photo to an index, build a face profile, or share it with anyone.

Do I need an account?

No — searching and unlocking work with zero signup. An optional account simply keeps your searches and unlocks in one place so you can come back to them from any device.

Why is it only $3.59?

Most face-search sites push $10–$70 subscriptions for what is often a one-time question. We charge a single one-time payment per search — no recurring billing, no credits that expire.

What if there are no matches?

You are only charged when matches exist. If a search returns nothing, there is nothing to unlock and nothing to pay.

What does Deep Search add?

The standard search scans our live face index. Deep Search (coming soon) runs a second, paid pass across a much larger specialist index — built for the hard cases where the standard search comes up short.

How do I remove my own photos from results?

Use the Remove my data page. Send us the URLs (or whole profiles) and we block them from every future search on WhoIsThisFace — usually processed within 72 hours.

What is face monitoring?

After unlocking a search, you can monitor that face for $4.90/month: we re-scan it daily and email you only when it appears somewhere new. Monitoring keeps one small photo on our servers to re-scan — deleting the monitor (or your account) deletes it instantly. You can pause or cancel anytime from your account page.

Is face search legal?

Searching your own face, or vetting someone you are talking to, is legal in most jurisdictions and links only to public web pages. Laws vary by region — our Terms spell out acceptable use, and we honor removal requests.
